Nobody wants oily skin. Not only can oily skin be uncomfortable, but it can also make your skin look duller and more lifeless. However, while we should do our best to minimize greasy skin as much as we can, we should not equate oily skin with beauty oils. Beauty oils won’t make your skin more oily. In fact, beauty oils have a long, storied history in Ayurveda. It has been thought that this practice is good both externally and internally; doing so can rejuvenate your body and mind.

Though oil-free products are quite popular nowadays, they are not the answer to your oily skin. To minimize oiliness and tackle any number of skin issues, you will need to start using beauty oils on your skin. To get started, we will share with you one of our favorites: castor oil! Today, you will learn our top 5 benefits of using castor oil on your skin. You will also learn how to make 5 castor oil natural remedies that you must try at home. While using castor oil might seem intimidating if you have oily skin, trust us when we say that castor oil for oily skin can help you balance out your skin and make it healthier and more beautiful in no time. Let’s learn more about how can you put castor oil on your face!

1. Castor Oil Cleanse to Balance Out Oily Skin

Though it might seem antithetical to diminish oiliness with castor oil, castor oil is capable of taming your oily skin because of its fatty acid content. One of the reasons why your skin may produce so much oil in the first place is to protect and nourish itself. If your skin senses that it is dry, irritated, and vulnerable to infection, it will produce sebum to act as a barrier for your skin. Castor oil, though, is an abundant source of fatty acids that deeply penetrate your skin, nourish your skin cells thoroughly, and lock in your skin’s moisture. As a result, your skin won’t feel the need to pump out as much sebum when it knows it has already been nourished. Using castor oil for face skin on a regular basis can balance out your skin so that it isn’t too oily and yet remains nourished and healthy.

Using castor oil as an oil cleanse is a great way to minimize excess oiliness while still ensuring that your skin is properly nourished. However, keep in mind that castor oil should be diluted before use. Castor oil is quite viscous and tough to work with by itself. Using a castor oil home remedy or a product containing castor oil will help you reap all of castor oil’s benefits with ease.

So the answer to your question “is castor oil good for oily skin,” is yes!

2. Castor Oil Home Remedy to Reduce Acne Breakouts

On that note, because of how well castor oil works for oily skin, the same is true for acne. Acne can develop when your skin produces a lot of sebum that ends up clogging your pores and trapping any dirt, oils, and bacteria inside. By using castor oil for acne-prone skin to balance out your skin, you are reducing the likelihood of clogged pores, which may lead to less acne. Plus, ricinoleic acid, one of many fatty acids found in castor oil, has been studied to have antimicrobial properties. This means that castor oil can be used to deep clean your congested pores of impurities and acne-causing bacteria. However, if you plan to use castor oil for acne at home, make sure to dilute it beforehand since undiluted castor oil is more likely to clog your pores and cause acne rather than reduce it.
