When you use a skin toner for the first time, it is natural to use a lot. After all, toners are made of liquid, they’re very light, and the ads behind them claim they can shrink your open pores and reduce your acne in the process. But as we all know, what follows an overuse of toner is extremely dry skin. This is because most skin toners on the market use alcohol to tighten pores. Alcohol dehydrates the skin, which may cause a slew of problems like dryness, sun sensitivity, and early aging. This is why Apsara Skin Care toners do not have alcohol in them because we do not want to create more problems for your skin.
Skin care veterans are accustomed to always keeping moisturizer closeby after applying toner, but this should not be the standard. If you think that you should never use toners because they dry out your skin, you need to change that tone. The skin toners listed here can work with any skin type and will help you get even, glowing skin.
1. Witch Hazel, Baking Soda, and Aloe Toner for Oily and Acne-Prone Skin
Witch hazel is a potent skin toner for oily skin or for acne-prone skin. When you apply witch hazel, it does a few things to your face. First, it helps remove excess oil from your
face without stripping the skin of nourishing oils that are needed for healthy skin; this keeps your skin moisturized without it feeling too greasy. Second, since witch hazel is an astringent, it can tighten your open pores; tighter pores help with achieving a more youthful appearance. Third, witch hazel is antibacterial which is key since acne is the result of a bacterial infection. This is really handy in the morning or in the middle of the afternoon when you do not have a lot of time to thoroughly wash your face; a few drops of witch hazel goes a long way. If you use witch hazel long enough, it might leave you feeling positively enchanted and you may be com-spell-ed to buy more of it.
Ingredients
2 tbsp. of witch hazel
3 drops of aloe juice
⅛ tsp. of baking soda
Instructions
Mix ingredients together.
With a cotton ball, dab mixture onto your face.
Use daily. Follow with your daily skin care routine.

2. Rosewater and Vegetable Glycerin Toner for Dry Skin - Best Toner for Dry Skin
For people with dry skin, staying moisturized is important because their skin does not naturally produce enough oil by itself. It is best to use rosewater in conjunction with ingredients like vegetable glycerin, but even by itself, rosewater can hydrate the skin and lock in that moisture. Rosewater contains antioxidants and essential minerals like vitamins A and C; the antioxidants heal the damage that is caused by free radicals while the essential minerals deeply nourish the skin to keep it healthy and glowing. Rosewater is also gentle on your skin and it is anti-inflammatory; it easily calms down redness from skin irritations and conditions such as eczema, which makes rosewater an excellent option for people with sensitive skin. Rosewater has been a staple in Ayurvedic beauty care for thousands of years. It is no wonder then that there is high-quality rosewater in all Apsara Skin Care toners. There are more benefits to using rosewater, however. In addition to it being very fragrant and calming, if you use a rosewater skin toner before going to bed, it may boost your memory. 3. Aloe Vera, Witch Hazel, and Rosewater - Best Toner for Combination Skin
A lot of people associate aloe vera with dry skin because it is an effective moisturizer; rich in antibacterial and antioxidant properties, aloe vera soothes itchy and dry patches of skin and
reduces inflammation. However, it can also be used for oily skin; aloe vera helps diminish acne without clogging your pores or leaving a greasy feeling on your skin. This makes aloe vera very good at addressing combination skin because it can tackle multiple skin types with aplomb. Using aloe vera as a skin toner regularly helps maintain your skin’s hydration and decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Since witch hazel works well for oily skin and rosewater works well for dry skin, adding these two gentle ingredients to aloe vera heightens its effectiveness.
Ingredients
½ tsp. of aloe vera
1 tbsp. of witch hazel
1 tbsp. of rosewater
Instructions
Mix ingredients together.
With a cotton ball, dab mixture onto your face.
Use daily. Follow with your serum and lotion.
4. Apple Cider Vinegar Toner for All Skin Types
Apple cider vinegar balances the pH of your skin so that it is not too oily or too dry, which makes ACV a great skin toner for all skin types. The potassium in ACV helps moisturize dry skin and keep it hydrated. Meanwhile, the malic acid in ACV is antibacterial so it will cleanse your pores of acne-causing bacteria. ACV also helps you get a more glowing complexion. The alpha hydroxy acids - for example, malic acid - and acetic acid in ACV exfoliate the skin; they remove the dead skin cells on the surface of your skin and improve the cell renewal rate. This causes soft, glowing skin to come to surface quickly. The exfoliating process also helps get rid of scars and stubborn marks on your skin. Even though ACV can work with any skin type, before you start using ACV, remember to dilute it with water because it may sting and cause dryness or sensitivity. It is customary to start with a 1:3 ratio (one part ACV, 3 parts water); after that, you may adjust that ratio depending on your skin’s sensitivity and skin type.
Ingredients
8 drops of apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp. of fresh apple juice
1 tbsp. of warm water
Instructions
Mix ingredients together.
With a cotton ball, dab mixture onto your face.
Use daily. Follow with your serum and lotion.
5. Lemon juice, Vegetable Glycerin, and Rosewater Tone as Dark Spot Remover
It has become very fashionable these days to add lemon to your water in order to stay healthy and lose weight, but lemons are much more capable than just that. Lemons are a natural skin lightener; the same lemon juice you put in your water to improve its taste can be used to fade dark spots and acne scars. Lemons also have a lot of citric acid - which peels away the surface layer of skin cells in order to spur new cell growth - and antioxidants like Vitamin C, which protects the skin against free radical damage. Before you add those lemon rinds to your water bottle, squeeze out a few drops and use them as a toner. Adding vegetable glycerin and rosewater to this remedy will make lemon juice more soothing to the skin.
Ingredients
6 drops of lemon juice
4 drops of apple cider vinegar
4 drops of vegetable glycerin
2 tbsp. of rosewater
Instructions
Mix ingredients together.
With a cotton ball, dab mixture onto your face.
Use daily. Follow with your serum and lotion.
