Top 5 Acne Do's & Don'ts


Use products with harsh chemicals at high concentrations. 

These treatments may irritate skin, which can lead to clogged pores due to over production of sebum to compensate for excess dryness.


Use products that are made with natural ingredients well known to have skin pacifying benefits.

Neem, turmeric, sulfur, and clove are great examples! 


Cleanse your skin too often or use cleansers with sulfates in them.

Acne-prone skin needs to be handled very gently! In most cases it is already inflamed and irritated, and harsh detergents like sulfates can worsen and aggravate this situation.


Cleanse your skin twice a day with lukewarm water and with a pH-balanced cleanser that is sulfate free.

A pH balanced cleanser retains the natural integrity of your skin without stripping it of beneficial oils.


Leave your skin without an external source of hydration and nourishment.

Acne-prone skin should be well hydrated and moisturized to prevent it from overproducing sebum, which in turn can clog pores and worsen acne.


Moisturize and nourish your skin at least twice a day with a lightweight lotion and serum combination.

Ingredients like jojoba can clean your pores and nourish your skin at the same time!


Use alcohol-based toners.

Alcohol is a very well known skin irritant. What is worse, it severely dehydrates skin and that can actually make your acne worse. 


Tighten open pores using a rosewater based toner. 

Rosewater is known in Ayurveda for its natural astringent properties which minimizes pore size without causing dryness.


Skip drinking lots of water and touch your skin constantly!


Monitor your food intake and the incidence of an acne flare-up.
