For those new to the skin care game, there is likely one word that you have heard of even if you don’t know what it means: collagen. Collagen can be found on the label of countless beauty products, but you might not know how it works or if it works at all. Rest assured, collagen is not a beauty fad. In fact, collagen is a fundamental building block for your skin and the reason why your skin looks so youthful when you’re young. As you grow older and collagen starts to deteriorate, though, that’s when lines and wrinkles start showing up on your skin.

To maintain that ageless complexion, many people take collagen supplements or use collagen-based products on their skin. However, there are plenty of natural ways to support the collagen within your skin so that it looks youthful for as long as possible. Keep reading to learn 3 collagen-boosting home remedies that can help you achieve a firm, wrinkle-free complexion. None of these remedies contain any harsh chemicals, which you should avoid if you are serious about glowing, younger-looking skin.

1. Lemon & Turmeric Home Remedy to Get Flawless, Wrinkle-Free Skin

One of the best ways to boost collagen may be hiding in your pantry or kitchen. As a matter of fact, depending on your diet, you may have been encouraging collagen production all along. Vitamin C can be found in many fruits and vegetables, and it is a secret way to get wrinkle-free skin. Vitamin C has been studied to improve collagen synthesis, which can lead to fewer lines, wrinkles, and other premature signs of aging.

Even though this is tremendous news, try not to go overboard with Vitamin C on your skin. Certain fruits contain compounds that, when used in excess, can worsen the condition of your skin. For example, lemons and oranges, which can be found in the remedies in this article, contain a compound called citric acid. Citric acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid that is capable of exfoliating your skin and sloughing off dead skin cells. However, if you use too much, you may start to experience redness, inflammation, and swelling.

All of us want firm, younger-looking, wrinkle-free skin, but you don’t need to use a lot of Vitamin C to get it. If you want to try any of these remedies, you must follow the instructions precisely.

Ingredients

15 drops of lemon juice

⅛ tsp. of turmeric powder

1 tbsp. of mashed papaya

Rice flour, as needed

Instructions

Mix the lemon juice, turmeric, and papaya together. Add enough rice flour to the mixture until you get a thick paste.

Apply the remedy and leave it on for 12 to 15 minutes.

Wash it off with warm water. Follow with your toner, serum, and lotion.

Use 1 to 2 times a week.

"I really put [the Sweet Almond & Wheatgerm serum] where my fine lines are prone, definitely here at the temples and the smile lines...It doesn’t feel oily, it doesn’t feel greasy, and I honestly - it just feels like this lovely nourishing “goddessy” moment and that’s not an exaggeration."

2. Vitamin E & Wheatgerm Oil Home Remedy to Discourage Signs of Premature Aging

As we mentioned above, your collagen will start to deteriorate at a natural rate as you get older. However, there are certain factors that can contribute to a faster breakdown, for instance, free radicals. Free radicals can damage your skin cells and your collagen; over time, this damage may result in premature lines and wrinkles as well as sagging skin and discoloration. To eliminate these free radicals, we need to utilize antioxidants. Antioxidants are special compounds that can scavenge these free radicals and protects our skin cells in the process.

Antioxidants sound fancy, but they can be found in so many different natural ingredients. For example, not only is Vitamin C an excellent way to boost collagen, but it is also an antioxidant.

Ingredients

½ tsp. of lemon juice

1 tsp. of Vitamin E oil

1 tsp. of wheatgerm oil

Instructions

Emulsify the ingredients together with a fork.

Apply and massage your skin for 3 to 5 minutes. Leave it on for 8 to 10 minutes.

Wash it off with warm water. Follow with a daily skin care routine based on your skin type. Click here to find out what your skin type is.

Use 1 to 2 times a week.

3. Aloe & Orange Home Remedy to Diminish Wrinkles & Plump Up Your Skin

We all know that aloe vera can effectively moisturize your skin, but it may also help you achieve a younger-looking complexion. That’s because aloe vera has been studied to increase collagen production and diminish the look of lines and wrinkles on your skin. While it may take some time for aloe vera to work its magic on your skin, you should regularly moisturize your skin with aloe vera anyway. Since dry, dehydrated skin tends to look more visibly aged than other skin types, aloe vera can deeply nourish your skin and make it look firmer, softer, and more supple within minutes.

Ingredients

1 tsp. of aloe vera

1 tsp. of almond oil

1 tsp. of orange juice

Instructions

Emulsify the ingredients together with a fork.

Apply this DIY and massage your skin for 3 to 5 minutes. Leave it on for 8 to 10 minutes.

Wash it off with warm water. Follow with your daily skin care routine.

Use 1 to 2 times a week.
