Open pores are generally not a sign of poor skin health. In fact, your skin can be clear, even, and properly nourished even if you have open pores. However, most people do not associate open pores with stunning, youthful skin. Open pores are often lumped together with sagging skin and can contribute to an appearance that looks prematurely aged. Open pores may be caused by several factors (genetics, acne, and skin type, to name a few), but regardless of how they are caused, many of us want them to disappear from view.

Fortunately, there are many natural ingredients that can refine your complexion so that your pores look smaller and your skin looks firmer. Here are 3 castor oil and apple cider vinegar home remedies that can close open pores and tighten your skin up. When accompanied with your natural facial toner, these home remedies can help you achieve a more glowing, youthful, and firm look on your skin.

1. Apple Cider Vinegar & Castor Oil Home DIY to Tighten & Freshen Up Your Skin

If you have open pores and you want to tighten up your skin, apple cider vinegar is one of the best natural ingredients to use. That’s because apple cider vinegar has astringent properties. As an astringent, apple cider vinegar can minimize the appearance of open pores as well as diminish any excess oiliness on your skin. For many people, open pores accompany an oily skin type; when your skin produces a lot of oil, your pores will look bigger than normal. Using apple cider vinegar on your skin can help you balance it out so it is neither too oily nor too dry. Over time, by balancing your skin out regularly, your skin won’t have to produce as much oil and your pores may start to look smaller.

Ingredients

5 drops of Vitamin E oil

5 drops of castor oil

8 drops of apple cider vinegar

1 tbsp. of aloe gel

Instructions

Mix the ingredients together.

Apply and massage your skin for 2 to 3 minutes. Leave it on for 10 to 12 minutes.

Wash it off with warm water. Follow with your toner, serum, and lotion.

Use once a week.

“My face feels balanced: not too oily, not too dry. It really is perfection.”

2. Apple Cider Vinegar & Castor Oil Home DIY to Balance Out Open Pores & Nourish Your Skin

As we mentioned above, an oily skin type and open pores often go hand in hand, but you may develop open pores no matter what your skin type is. If your skin is too dry, your body will send a signal to your skin to produce a lot of sebum in order to protect itself. If this happens too frequently, your pores might start to look larger. Case in point: even though apple cider vinegar is fantastic for your skin, using too much of it can lead to excess dryness, which means that the apple cider vinegar won’t work as intended, or worse, it will make your skin issues more prominent.

To combat skin dryness and keep our pores from getting any bigger, we need to use a natural ingredient that can nourish your skin. This is why we’ve included castor oil in all of the home remedies listed in this article. Not only is castor oil a beauty oil rich in fatty acids, but it is also an ingredient used in Ayurveda for thousands of years and is highly respected for its anti-aging benefits.

Ingredients

8 drops of apple cider vinegar

8 drops of castor oil

1 tbsp. of rice flour

Rosewater, as needed

Mix the apple cider vinegar, castor oil, and rice flour together. Add enough rosewater to the mixture until you get a thick paste.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar & Castor Oil Home DIY to Deep Clean & Close Open Pores

In addition to closing open pores and tightening your skin, castor oil and apple cider vinegar have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Together, they can deep clean your pores, banish acne from your skin, and minimize the look of redness, swelling, and inflammation. Even though your goal is to shrink those open pores as much as possible, you should also strive to remove impurities within your pores and keep your skin healthy. That way, your skin will be more likely to look glowing and youthful.

Ingredients

5 drops of castor oil

10 drops of apple cider vinegar

1 tsp. of witch hazel

1 tsp. of fresh cucumber juice

Rice flour, as needed

Instructions

Mix the castor oil, apple cider vinegar, witch hazel, and cucumber juice together. Add enough rice flour to the mixture until you get a thick paste.

Apply and leave the remedy on for 12 to 15 minutes.
