“Pouring oil on your hair? That sounds like a recipe for disaster.” However, as it turns out, oil can be very good for your hair. Of course, this doesn’t apply to all oils (don’t even think about putting something dangerous like crude oil on your hair!), but some oils can do the trick and work their magic on your hair. Have you ever dreamed of waking up with long, luscious, lustrous hair that is not prone to hair fall or early graying? A hair oil just might be what you’re looking for. Plus, by using an all natural hair oil, you won’t have to subject your hair to harsh chemicals that could cause long-term damage to the health of your hair and scalp.

Continue reading to discover 10 hair oils that can seriously bump up the quality of your hair.

1. Vitamin E Oil to Stimulate Faster Hair Growth

An essential vitamin for healthy hair growth is Vitamin E. Vitamin E stimulates blood circulation in your scalp and boosts hair growth. Vitamin E can also heal damaged hair follicles and hair strands. There are plenty of oils that contain Vitamin E (including many on this list), but if you want to enrich your hair with this nutrient, adding some pure Vitamin E oil to a homemade mix like the one below is a great idea.

Ingredients

12 drops of Vitamin E oil

1 tbsp. of almond oil

3 tbsp. of sunflower oil

Instructions

Mix the ingredients together. Apply the mixture to your hair strands and scalp.

Massage your hair and scalp gently for a few minutes. Leave it on for 2 to 3 hours or overnight.

Wash the oil off with your shampoo and follow with your conditioner.

Use 1 to 2 times a week.

"I was having lots of issues with my hair. Lots of itchiness, lots of dandruff...I heard about Apasra...I ordered oil and a shampoo. I feel the difference now. [All of my] itchiness is gone. Hair fall is almost gone...I still do have some dandruff, but I feel it is improving a lot. I definitely recommend all the hair products."

2. Jojoba Oil to Nourish a Flake-Free Head of Hair

Jojoba oil is structurally similar to sebum, a natural compound your body produces to nourish and protect both your skin and hair. When your body produces too much sebum, sometimes that can cause dandruff to occur. However, if you use jojoba oil on your scalp and on your hair strands, your body will think it has produced a lot of sebum and will stop producing it. This effect ensures that your hair is being properly nourished without it becoming too oily or greasy. Moreover, jojoba oil is rich in fatty acids that will help deeply nourish your hair strands to alleviate dryness and promote hair growth.

Ingredients

3 tbsp. of jojoba oil

12 drops of Vitamin E oil

Instructions

Mix the ingredients together. Apply the mixture to your scalp and hair strands.

Gently massage your scalp and hair for a few minutes. Leave the oil on for 2 to 3 hours or overnight.

Wash it off with your shampoo. Follow with your conditioner.

Use 1 to 2 times a week.

3. Sunflower Oil for Frizz-Free, Hydrated Hair

Sunflower oil is a rich oil that can provide much-needed nourishment to your hair without it being greasy. This oil contains Vitamin E as well as oleic acid and linoleic acid,

two fatty acids that deeply nourish your hair and restore weak hair strands. Sunflower oil is also an emollient, which reduces frizz in your hair and softens it.

Ingredients

2 tbsp. of sunflower oil

1 tsp. of castor oil

2 tbsp. of coconut oil

Instructions

Mix the ingredients together and apply the mixture to your scalp and hair strands.

Massage your scalp and hair gently for a few minutes. Leave the oil on for 2 to 3 hours or overnight.

Wash it off with your shampoo. Afterward, use your conditioner.

Use 1 to 2 times a week.

4. Grapeseed Oil Deep Nourishment Remedy for Sensitive Hair

Grapeseed oil and sunflower oil have very similar effects when they are used on hair. They are both Vitamin E-rich light oils that leave very little grease on your hair, and they nourish your skin with fatty acids such as oleic acid and linoleic acid. Furthermore, both oils are antimicrobial, so you may use either of the two to cleanse your hair without having to use shampoo instead. The main difference? Grapeseed oil is considered to be hypoallergenic.

Ingredients

2 tbsp. of fenugreek seeds

½ cup of water

Grapeseed oil, as needed

Instructions

Place the fenugreek and water into a bowl. Soak the fenugreek overnight.

In the morning, strain the mixture and grind the fenugreek to a paste.

Add enough grapeseed oil until you get the consistency of ketchup.

Apply this mixture to your scalp and hair strands. Leave it on for 2 to 3 hours or overnight.

Wash the oil off with your shampoo and follow with your conditioner.

Use 1 to 2 times a week.

5. Amla to Bolster Your Hair’s Natural Defense

Even if our hair health and body health is in tip-top shape, there are several external factors that may worsen the condition of our hair. For example, environmental damage from the sun and free radicals from the atmosphere can weaken our hair strands and cause hair breakage. However, antioxidants help restore the health of our hair as well as improve our hair’s defense against the outside world. Healthy hair follicles foster faster hair growth. Amla, an Ayurvedic favorite hair care ingredient, is a potent source of antioxidants because of its high levels of Vitamin C so using amla as a hair oil can promote healthy hair.
