Detoxify and remove excess tan with this clay face mask
Recipe by: Sheetal Rawal. Scientist and founder Apsara Skin Care, Inc.
One of my most favorite homemade clay face mask ingredients is fuller's earth, and I bring it up as often as I can since the skin related benefits are simply fantastic.
Like many clays (e.g green clay, bentonite, kaolin etc.).

Fuller's earth is very therapeutic to the skin. It is very rich in trace minerals that skin simply loves. It also has skin cooling and mild natural bleaching properties, which makes it an excellent choice for summertime when the skin could become irritated, prone to heat rashes and excess dullness and dehydration. When combined with other carefully chosen natural ingredients in form of a clay face mask, fuller's earth's properties can be further enhanced.
Here is a very simple homemade clay face mask that can:
- tighten and tone
- pull impurities and deep clean
- soothe tenderness due to overexposure to direct sunlight
- reverse excess tanning and dullness
3 TSP fuller's earth (also called multani mitti)
1/2 tsp fresh cucumber juice
1/2 tsp aloe vera gel
enough tomato juice to form a paste
Mix these ingredients very well and apply on your skin (neck upwards). Allow it to dry for 15 minutes and then wash with lukewarm water. Immediately after follow with your serum and lotion.
