Even if you take good care of your body, you sleep an adequate number of hours every day, and you try to destress yourself regularly, you may still see under-eye dark circles in the mirror every morning. Why is that? Well, for many people, under-eye dark circles are hereditary. If your parents and relatives have under-eye dark circles, chances are that yours are not as temporary as you want them to be. Don’t go blaming your parents and your genes right this minute, though. You may be born with those under-eye dark circles, but there are ways to reduce this pigmentation so that your eyes look a lot more glowing.

Here are 3 home remedies that you should use to fade the appearance of under-eye dark circles. The area around your eyes is delicate, so your best bet to nourish your skin and improve skin glow is to use natural ingredients. Using just one of these home remedies once a week can make those under-eye dark circles a thing of the past and help your eyes sparkle with health and vitality.

1. Banana Home Remedy to Diminish Dark Circles

Bananas are chockful of antioxidants that can diminish those under-eye dark circles. Bananas contain Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and lutein. These antioxidants can reduce inflammation and help constrict the appearance of blood vessels around your eyes; large, broken blood vessels can give the appearance of a dark circle. Antioxidants can also minimize the damage free radicals are doing to your skin cells. Free radicals are one reason why many people develop under-eye dark circles, especially since your eye area is delicate. Even if your under-eye dark circles are genetic, free radicals may make them look worse. The antioxidants found in bananas can help your skin look a lot more even and glowing as a result.

There are even antioxidants found in the banana peel so if you have the time, you can cut up a few pieces, put them on your eyes, and relax like you’re at the spa.

Ingredients

1 tbsp. of mashed banana

⅛ tsp. of turmeric powder

½ tsp. of instant coffee

Instructions

Mix the ingredients together.

Apply and massage your skin with this remedy for 3 to 5 minutes with gentle upward strokes. Leave it on for 10 minutes.

Wash the remedy off in 10 minutes. Follow with your eye serum.

Use once a week.

"I used [Apsara's Cucumber Under Eye Serum] and within a month, it significantly reduced my wrinkles and fine lines around my eye area. It’s worth every penny, and I highly recommend it."

2. Saffron Home Remedy to Brighten Up Your Eye Area

Another antioxidant-rich natural ingredient you can use to fade those pesky under-eye dark circles is saffron. Saffron contains carotenoids like crocin, crocetin, and safranal that can neutralize free radical damage. Saffron is also a time-tested ingredient. It has been used for thousands of years in Ayurveda to brighten up the skin and help it look more stunning.

Saffron can be quite expensive so to get the most out of it, it is highly suggested that you let a few strands sit in a little bit of water or rosewater. This process will let the liquid absorb the saffron’s properties. As the saffron loses color, the liquid will exhibit a yellow-orange hue. Even a single strand of saffron is potent, and creating saffron water will help you use it on your skin more effectively.

Ingredients

4 strands of saffron

1 tbsp. of rosewater

1 tsp. of fresh cucumber juice

Instructions

Place the saffron and rosewater n in a bowl. Let the saffron sit in the rosewater until it loses its color. This will take about 10 to 15 minutes.

Mix the saffron water with the cucumber juice.

Dab the remedy on your skin. Leave it on for 12 to 15 minutes.

Wash it off with warm water. Follow with your eye serum.

Use once a week.

3. Almond Oil & Aloe Home Remedy to Moisturize Your Eye Area

In addition to minimizing free radical damage and fading the appearance of your under-eye dark circles, you should also nourish and moisturize your eye area. Providing proper nourishment to your eye area can eliminate dryness, keep your skin healthy, and reduce puffiness or swollenness. One way to do so is by combining the restorative powers of almond oil and aloe vera. Almond oil is rich in antioxidants like Vitamin E as well as fatty acids that help protect your skin. Aloe vera, on the other hand, is rich in vitamins and nutrients, and it can deeply penetrate your skin so that your eye area looks softer, plumper, and more glowing.

Ingredients

5 drops of almond oil

1 tsp. of fresh aloe gel

3 drops of apple juice

Instructions

Mix the ingredients together.

Apply and massage your skin with this remedy for 3 to 5 minutes with gentle upward strokes. Leave it on for 10 minutes.

Wash the remedy off in 10 minutes. Follow with your eye serum.

Use once a week.
