Is your hair parched? Your hair might not look like a complete disaster, but if your hair is dry, it is likely difficult to brush, hard to tame, and prone to frizziness and dullness. For many people, dry hair is a constant bother; some of the usual causes of dry hair include genetics, changes in weather, and hair care products. You might be tempted to try out those styling products that claim to reverse dry hair, but why not give natural ingredients a try instead? There are thousands of natural ingredients that can nourish your dry hair without exposing it to harsh chemicals.

Today, we will be talking about one particular natural ingredient that has been noted for its hair-nourishing properties: fenugreek. Fenugreek (known as methi in Hindi) is packed with nutrients your hair loves, and it has been used for ages in Ayurveda to help people get soft, silky, lustrous, and frizz-free hair. We will also share with you 3 fenugreek home remedies that can nourish your dry hair and enhance shine. When paired with your natural hair care routine, these fenugreek-based DIYs can make your dry, frizzy hair days disappear!

1. Fenugreek Home Remedy to Condition Your Hair Naturally

As we mentioned above, fenugreek is an Ayurvedic favorite used for thousands of years. What makes fenugreek so beneficial for your hair is that it contains a lot of nutrients that your hair needs if you want to grow shiny, healthy, frizz-free tresses. For example, fenugreek is a good source of protein, which is what your hair is made of (specifically, a protein called keratin). Replenishing your hair with the protein from fenugreek can lead to less hair breakage, less dryness, less frizziness, and fewer split ends. Not only that, fenugreek contains other compounds that can encourage hair growth and hair shine, such as iron, lecithin, and nicotinic acid (otherwise known as niacin or Vitamin B3). It is no wonder then that fenugreek is well-regarded by many for its natural hair conditioning properties.

Ingredients

2 tbsp. of fenugreek seeds

Water, as needed

¼ tsp. of Vitamin E oil

Almond oil, as needed

Instructions

Place the fenugreek seeds in a bowl. Add enough water to the bowl until the water completely covers the fenugreek.

Soak the fenugreek overnight. In the morning, grind the seeds up with a blender.

Mix the Vitamin E oil with the fenugreek paste. Add enough almond oil to the mixture until you get a paste with the consistency of ketchup.

Massage the mixture into your scalp and apply it along the length of your hair. Leave it on for 3 to 4 hours.

Wash it off with warm water. Follow with your shampoo and conditioner.

Use once every 2 weeks.

"I’ve been using their entire Rosemary & Amla Hair Oil, Shampoo & Conditioner, and I’ve seen [a] noticeable difference in my hair. I started having less hair fall as well as less gray hair, compared to what I had before."

2. Fenugreek Home Remedy to Increase Hair Shine

In addition to its hair conditioning properties, fenugreek can keep both your hair and scalp healthy. Fenugreek has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Free radicals may be responsible for your hair breakage or your dry, dull hair, but using fenugreek as a hair home remedy can fight off those free radicals and minimize the damage they caused. Fenugreek is also antibacterial and antifungal. A scalp infection can deter hair growth and may lead to dandruff, hair fall, and thinning hair. However, by keeping your scalp healthy with fenugreek, you can ensure that the blood circulation to your scalp is normal and that your hair is getting the nutrients it needs from your body. Over time, your hair may start to look thicker, frizz-free, and more lustrous.

Ingredients

2 tbsp. of fenugreek seeds

Water, as needed

¼ tsp. of castor oil

3 tbsp. of avocado paste

Instructions

Place the fenugreek seeds in a bowl. Add enough water to the bowl until the water completely covers the fenugreek.

Soak the fenugreek overnight. In the morning, grind the seeds up with a blender.

Mix the castor oil and avocado with the fenugreek paste.

Massage the mixture into your scalp and apply it along the length of your hair. Leave it on for 3 to 4 hours.

Wash it off with warm water. Follow with your shampoo and conditioner.

Use once every 2 weeks.

3. Fenugreek Home Remedy to Nourish Your Hair Follicles & Diminish Dryness

On top of all that, fenugreek can nourish your hair follicles and hair strands so that they become less prone to dryness and hair breakage. This is likely due to fenugreek’s high mucilage content, which is believed to help moisturize your hair. In fact, if you combine fenugreek with a hydrating natural ingredient like aloe vera, you will make a highly nourishing home remedy that can help you achieve the soft, silky, frizz-free, and shiny hair that you desire.

Ingredients

3 tbsp. of fenugreek seeds

Water, as needed

¼ tsp. of aloe vera gel

Coconut oil, as needed

Instructions

Place the fenugreek seeds in a bowl. Add enough water to the bowl until the water completely covers the fenugreek.

Soak the fenugreek overnight. In the morning, grind the seeds up with a blender.

Mix the aloe vera with the fenugreek paste. Add enough coconut oil to the mixture until you get a paste with the consistency of ketchup.

Massage the mixture into your scalp and apply it along the length of your hair. Leave it on for 3 to 4 hours.

Wash it off with warm water. Follow with your shampoo and conditioner.

Use once every 2 weeks.
