While we should be able to embrace our own imperfections, when it comes to our skin, most of us can agree that we want all of them to vanish in an instant. A single dark spot or blemish can make anyone look duller or more aged. Even if you have no marks or dark spots, your face may not be as even as you would like it because of skin discoloration. What then can we do to make our skin as flawless as possible?

The answer is Vitamin E. Vitamin E may become your skin’s next best friend if you have dark spots or discoloration. This special skin-friendly vitamin can leave your skin glowing, even, and youthful in no time at all. If you have already been using Vitamin E for its anti-aging properties, that is wonderful. Now, learn what else it can do for your skin. Discover how to utilize Vitamin E with these 5 effective homemade DIYs.

1. Vitamin E DIY to Eliminate Free Radical Damage & Get Glowing Skin

No matter what the season is, we should always take precautions when the sun is shining outside. Even though the days get shorter during fall and winter, the sun is still able to do some damage to our skin, in the form of free radical damage. Free radicals harm your skin cells and make your skin more prone to issues like discoloration and dark spots. If you’re not careful, free radical damage can accumulate quietly and you might wake up to discolored skin that is riddled with dark spots. How terrifying!

Vitamin E, however, has developed a reputation as a superior antioxidant. Antioxidants help minimize the impact of free radical damage on your skin, which may lead to fewer dark spots and more even skin. Vitamin E is found in many natural ingredients, but it also exists as a beauty oil.

Ingredients

8 drops of Vitamin E oil

10 drops of fresh lemon juice

1 tbsp. of oat flour

Aloe juice, as needed

Instructions

Mix the Vitamin E, lemon juice, and oat flour. Add enough aloe juice to the mixture until you get a paste.

Apply the remedy and leave it on for 12 to 15 minutes.

Wash it off with warm water. Follow with your toner, serum, and lotion.

Use 1 to 2 times a week.

2. Vitamin E & Fuller’s Earth Mask to Clean Skin & Banish Dark Spots

You can diminish the appearance of dark spots and discoloration more easily when you use Vitamin E in conjunction with other natural ingredients. For instance, fuller’s earth

Fuller's earth for dark spots and discoloration

is a natural clay that is believed to lighten dark spots and even out skin tone, likely due to its detoxifying and cleansing properties. If there are any impurities on your skin that are causing your dark spots or discoloration, fuller’s earth is capable of pulling them out of your pores, as well as any dirt and excess oil. Using fuller’s earth regularly may leave your skin cleaner and brighter as a result. Another benefit of using fuller’s earth? Less acne, blackheads, and oiliness.

Ingredients

8 drops of Vitamin E oil

1 tbsp. of fuller’s earth [Multani mitti]

Apple cider vinegar (ACV), as needed

Instructions

Mix the Vitamin E and fuller’s earth together. Add enough ACV to the mixture until you get a paste.

Apply the mask and leave it on for 12 to 15 minutes.

Wash the mask off with warm water. Follow with a daily skin care routine based on your skin type. Click here to find out what your skin type is.

Use 1 to 2 times a week.

3. Vitamin E & Tamarind Massaging Mix to Exfoliate Discolored, Patchy Skin

Neutralizing free radical damage isn’t the only way to reduce the appearance of dark spots and discoloration. Another way is to exfoliate your skin. When you exfoliate your skin, you are sloughing off dead skin cells, which may be contributing to dark spots and discoloration. By getting rid of these dead cells, you are encouraging more glowing and youthful cells to surface, and this can lead to a more youthful, even complexion in the process. Vitamin E can’t exfoliate your skin, but tamarind sure can due to tartaric acid, an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA).

Ingredients

10 drops of Vitamin E oil

⅛ tsp. of tamarind pulp

1 tbsp. of applesauce

Instructions

Mix the ingredients together.

Apply and massage your skin for 2 to 3 minutes. Leave it on for 10 to 12 minutes.

Wash the remedy off with warm water. Then, use your toner, serum, and lotion.

Use 1 to 2 times a week.

4. Vitamin E & Papaya DIY for a Brighter, Even Skin Tone

Even though papayas do not contain alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), they can still diminish the appearance of dark spots and discoloration because of papain. Papain is an

enzyme found in papayas that functions similarly to AHAs; it exfoliates the skin and dissolves the dead cells on the surface. Since papaya is also thought to have skin lightening properties, many people use it to even out their skin and attain a beautiful, glowing look.

Ingredients

10 drops of Vitamin E oil

1 tbsp. of mashed papaya

Jaggery powder, as needed

Instructions

Mix the Vitamin E and papaya together. Add enough jaggery to the mixture until you get a paste.

Apply the paste and leave the paste on for 12 to 15 minutes.

Wash the paste off with warm water. Follow with your daily skin care routine.

Use 1 to 2 times a week.
