Previously, we have discussed adjustments you could make in your lifestyle so that you can have clear, flawless, glowing skin for a long time. (We hope you’ve been using at least one of them!) Today, we’ll be going over the same topic, but on a much smaller scale: rules you can follow on a daily basis so that your skin stays flawless for years to come. Just like with a daily skin care routine, doing something regularly can be awesome for your skin, and these 5 rules are no exception. Plus, all of these rules are simple and easy to follow; in fact, one of them is to just drink enough water every day. If that sounds easy enough to you, then the rest of these rules should be no trouble at all.

1. Eliminate Water Retention

When your body is retaining an excess amount of water, it can cause a number of symptoms, such as puffiness of skin and skin discoloration. Of course, we want our skin to look soft and plump, but water retention just makes our skin look bloated. One of the biggest causes of water retention is a high sodium diet. Because sodium plays an essential role in maintaining the health of your body, getting the right amount of sodium is key. Having a low sodium diet can help reduce the effects of water retention and help your skin flawless and look better than ever. Need another way to reduce water retention? You can find it below.

“Hi, my name is Sanika, and I’ve been using the Apsara products - the cleanser, serum, toner, and lotion - and I’ve been seeing a lot of good results. The areas near my nose have cleared up a lot, and I’ve also noticed a lot less acne.”

2. Drink Plenty of Water Every Day

You might think that this point contradicts the one above, but as crazy as it may seem, drinking more water regularly can help reduce water retention. When you’re not

drinking enough water, your body tries to preserve as much of it as possible in order to keep your cells functioning, which worsens the look of your skin and can lead to puffiness and skin discoloration.

There are two other side effects associated with not drinking plenty of water. First, a lack of hydration can lead to dry, flaky skin. Second, water helps flush out the toxins (and excess sodium) in your body; conversely, less water leads to more toxins in your body, which can do a number of harmful things to your skin. If you take great care in moisturizing your skin externally with a lotion or cream, drinking a sufficient amount of water every day will do the same thing for your skin internally. (Although you may have heard of the advice to drink “8 glasses a day”, some people may need more or less, depending on their lifestyle.)

3. Never Wash Your Skin with Hot Water

A few weeks ago, we discussed why it is important to not wash your hair with hot water if you want gorgeous hair. Similarly, you should also not wash your skin with hot water if you want flawless skin. Hot water can open up your pores as well as rob your skin of its natural oils, which are used to naturally nourish your skin and keep it healthy and protected. Hot water baths or showers can also cause inflammation (due to an increase in blood circulation), skin sensitivity, and dry, flaky skin. (This situation is made even worse if you are using skin care products with harsh chemicals.)

Although taking a long, hot shower can be really nice at the beginning or end of your day, that hot water is not doing you any favors for either your skin or your hair. Therefore, when you take a shower, you should always wash your skin with lukewarm water, and after you pat your skin dry, follow with your toner, serum, and lotion.

4. Limit Sun Exposure

Basking in the warm summer sun may be relaxing, but sun exposure is responsible for a lot of signs of aging, This is because the sun’s UV light can cause free radical damage.

When free radicals interact with your skin, they can impair or deteriorate your cells and cause inflammation, which can result in skin issues such as fine lines, wrinkles, and dark spots. Plus, sun exposure can also increase your risk of skin cancer.

Now, we’re not telling you that you should live like a vampire if you want beautiful skin, especially since vampires are known for their pale, white skin. Getting a little bit of sun every day can be good for you, as it has been linked to boosting serotonin and Vitamin D levels in your body. However, when you do go out in the sun, you can at least be smart. First, try to avoid sunlight between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. when UV light is at its strongest. Second, you don’t have to cover every inch of your body with clothing (which could overheat you in the process), but you should wear sunglasses to protect your delicate eye area and hats to protect your face. Third, you should incorporate more antioxidants into your diet and skin care routine since these compounds help alleviate free radical damage. Finally, even if the weather is cold, as long as the sun is out, you should take a few precautions before stepping outside.

5. Minimize Your Sugar Intake

You should reduce the amount of sugar you consume daily not just because it is a healthy thing to do, but also because a lot of sugar in your diet can cause inflammation. Inflammation, as we mentioned above, is known to cause many skin issues. Acne, specifically, has been linked to an excess amount of sugar consumption. Of course, by sugar, we mean processed sugar; natural sugars, such as fructose in fruit, should be fine in moderation. As a result, if you have a sweet tooth, get your sugar fix naturally by eating some fruit. This way, you won’t be aggravating your skin with processed sugar and the Vitamin C in fruits can help boost the health and beauty of your flawless skin.
