When it’s overcast and stormy outside, it’s easier to get away with having dull skin. However, when the sun is out in full bloom and there’s not a cloud in sight, dull skin becomes more and more apparent. We want our skin to radiate with youth and life, instead of looking as pale as a bed sheet.

There are many reasons why we have dull skin, for example, our environment and hormones. Luckily, saffron and turmeric are two natural ingredients that brighten the skin and revitalize your skin’s natural glow. When used properly, both of these ingredients can transform dull skin into glowing skin.

Here are 5 saffron and turmeric face scrubs you must use if your skin is looking a little drab and you want it to be absolutely radiant instead. For most of the remedies listed below, you will need to prepare saffron water. The recipe for saffron water is listed below:

Ingredients

1 tbsp. of water

5 strands of saffron

Instructions

Mix ingredients in a bowl. Let it stand for 10 minutes until the water turns yellow-orange.

1. Saffron Face Scrub for Brighter, More Youthful Skin

Although saffron is an expensive spice, its reputation as a skin-brightening agent is hard to ignore. Saffron has been used for thousands of years in Ayurveda to get glowing skin. Saffron is also a superb antioxidant; it contains carotenoids such as crocin and crocetin and these compounds help brighten the skin, protect it from free radical damage, and reduce inflammation. Using saffron as a part of your skin care routine can help you attain both glowing and ageless skin. However, in order to receive the skin-lightening benefits of saffron, it must be soaked in water before it is used. This is why all of the remedies listed here use saffron water as an ingredient.

Ingredients

1 tbsp. of semolina powder

6 drops of saffron water

Jojoba oil, as needed

Instructions

Mix semolina powder and saffron water together. Add enough jojoba oil to the mixture until you get a scrub.

Apply on your face and gently scrub your face for 3 to 5 minutes.

Wash it off with warm water. Follow with your toner, serum, and lotion.

Use 1 to 2 times a week.

2. Turmeric Face Scrub to Get Glowing Skin Fast

Not to be outdone, turmeric is also an all-star skin-lightening natural ingredient. Besides being revered in Ayurveda for thousands of years for its skin-lightening

3. Saffron & Turmeric Face Scrub for Ageless, Glowing Skin

When the two are combined, saffron and turmeric are incredibly powerful. In addition to their antioxidant properties, both saffron and turmeric are believed to improve blood circulation. When more blood flows to your skin, the skin appears brighter as a result. As if that wasn’t enough, more blood flow can promote the production of collagen and elastin, two compounds that are vital in the anti-aging process.

4. Saffron & Turmeric Exfoliating & Skin-Brightening Face Scrub

One of the best ways you can brighten up your skin is by exfoliating it. When you exfoliate your skin, you are sloughing off the uppermost layer of skin, which typically

consists of dead and dull skin cells. Underneath that layer is skin that is both dewy and more radiant. Although your skin naturally sheds that layer of skin, exfoliation is a natural method that can get faster results. Brown sugar is an excellent exfoliator because its tiny particles help remove those dead skin cells. By gently scrubbing your face with brown sugar, saffron, and turmeric, you are bringing out your natural glow and improving your complexion at a quicker pace.

1 tbsp. of powdered brown sugar

¼ tsp. of turmeric powder
