It can be very discouraging to start an anti-aging skin care routine when you are on a budget and you live from paycheck to paycheck. When you have to choose between flawless skin and groceries for a month, the answer is pretty clear: flawless skin groceries. It is possible to get a great skin care routine on a budget, but you’re not going to get it from the dollar store or the clearance rack at a drugstore.

However, you may be surprised that you can get flawless skin by simply looking in your kitchen. The same all-natural ingredients you use to cook your food or prepare a light snack can also be used on your skin. Most, if not all, of these items are anti-aging ingredients that you will be able to find easily; they’re either already in the cupboards of your kitchen or in your local supermarket. So the next time you prepare a delicious dish, you may reconsider how you can utilize these ingredients to get beautiful, glowing skin.

1. Green Tea to Boost Antioxidants in Your Skin

Green tea is rich in antioxidants, specifically catechins and polyphenols. Antioxidants slow down the aging process because they eliminate free radicals, which damage skin cells and break down collagen. Without antioxidants, our skin would lose elasticity and we would develop wrinkles much faster.

Usage Tip

To get the most out of your green tea, brew a pot for yourself to drink and then use the remainder for your anti-aging skin care routine; just grab a cotton ball, soak it in the leftovers, and dab it all over your face. Allow it to dry and then follow with your serum and lotion right after.

2. Instant Coffee to Look More Alert (Even When You Aren’t)

If you are intrigued by green tea but you are looking for something quick and easy, instant coffee should do the trick. Not only does caffeine provide you with a burst of

energy in the morning, it also makes skin look more vibrant, which helps when you do not get a good night’s sleep. That is because caffeine has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties; caffeine constricts blood vessels and makes skin look firmer in the process. Coffee is mainly used as a temporary measure, but if you use this anti-aging ingredient regularly, you should start seeing results.

Usage Tip

If you want to firm up the area around your eyes and reduce puffiness, mix 1 tsp. of instant coffee with 1 tsp. of rosewater, and dab it on with a cotton ball. After 10 minutes, wipe it off with a damp towel and follow with your eye serum.

3. Flaxseed Oil to Diminish Inflamed Skin

Flaxseed oil contains a lot of omega-3 fatty acids, especially alpha-linolenic acid. This anti-aging compound is critical for your body because it reduces inflammation. When used topically, flaxseed oil helps diminish skin irritations from conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. Also, when flaxseed oil is digested, it helps lower your cholesterol and improve your heart health.

Usage Tip

If you want to these benefits for yourself, take a small dab of flaxseed oil and apply it wherever your skin is dry; you can also substitute your everyday cooking oil with flaxseed oil. You may also follow this remedy to get more out of flaxseed oil:

4. Olive Oil for Skin Nourishment and Fewer Wrinkles

Although flaxseed oil may not be well-recognized, the same cannot be said for olive oil, a potent anti-aging kitchen staple. The monounsaturated fats in olive oil penetrate deep into the skin to nourish it and reduce the appearance of fine lines. This protects your skin’s elasticity and resilience. All

5. Carrots to Get Glowing Skin Right at Home

Carrots are rich in Vitamin A, which maintains the health of our current skin cells and promotes the growth of new skin cells. Vitamin A is very popular in anti-aging skin care products although you would probably recognize it more as “retinol” or “retinoid” on the label because they derive their skin-rejuvenating powers from Vitamin A.

Carrots are really easy to use topically; just juice carrots or blend them until you get a fine consistency and dab the juice onto your face. After 10 to 15 minutes, wash it off.
