In our past, we exposed our hair to a lot of things that were not good for it: bleach, hair dyes, hot curlers, perms, et cetera. And yet, for some of us, when we see our hair fall, either in a comb or in the shower drain, it still feels like a betrayal. We didn’t treat you that well in the past, but that doesn’t mean we want you to leave! Thankfully, I have devised a list of ingredients that will nurture your hair back to its youthful state and stop hair thinning in its tracks. While we can never forget all those bad hairstyle choices, our hair should look as though they had never existed in the first place.

Before we get started, I want you to know that it is very important to massage your scalp for any of these hair masks and oils because doing so will improve the blood circulation to your follicles; as a result, they will be able to absorb more of the nutrients from these hair masks. Nutrition is vital to stop thinning of hair and to promote hair growth.

1. Castor Oil & Sunflower Oil Mix

If you have ever tried to Google solutions for hair thinning, treatments involving castor oil have probably popped up. It is easy to see why. The ricinoleic acid in castor oil encourages new hair strands to develop from hair follicles, and it helps with moisturizing the scalp and hair. This can reduce hair fall.

Ingredients

1 tsp. of castor oil

2 tbsp. of sunflower oil

Instructions

Mix these ingredients well.

Apply to hair thoroughly and massage scalp.

Leave it on overnight.

Shampoo with warm water to rinse it out. Be sure your shampoo is free of harsh chemicals.

Use once every ten days.

2. Coconut Oil & Vitamin E Hair Mask

Coconut oil is another product that many people have said helped with hair loss, with some even claiming that the rate of their hair growth has increased. Coconut oil is rich

in lauric acid; not only does it reduce the loss of proteins from your hair strands and defend them from breakage, but it is also antibacterial and a good way of maintaining the health of your scalp. Thinning hair does not stand a chance when exposed to this potent fusion of coconut and Vitamin E.

Ingredients

3 tbsp. of coconut oil

1 tbsp. of coconut milk

8 drops of Vitamin E oil

Instructions

Mix these ingredients well.

Apply to hair thoroughly and massage scalp.

Leave it on overnight.

Shampoo with warm water to wash it off. Follow with your natural conditioner.

Use once a week.

3. Almond Oil & Sunflower Oil Hair Mix

While castor oil and coconut oil are all-purpose oils, they are thick and perhaps a bit difficult to work with. That being said, almond oil is a great substitute for castor oil and coconut oil because it is a light substance that still helps fight hair thinning. Almond oil is magnesium and zinc-rich; magnesium keeps your hair strong at the root level and zinc maintains the health of your hair follicles.

Ingredients

2 tbsp. of almond oil

1 tbsp. of sunflower oil

Instructions

Mix these ingredients well.

Apply to hair thoroughly and massage scalp.

Leave it on overnight.

Shampoo with warm water to wash it off. Condition your hair.

Use once every ten days.

4. Avocado & Vitamin E Hair Mask

While avocados can exist as a delicious fruit or as an oil, both products have a lot of monounsaturated fatty acids. These, along with the Vitamin B and Vitamin E found in

avocado, nourish and strengthen your hair strands as well as protect them from further damage and thinning.

Ingredients

½ cup of mashed avocado

2 tsp. of Vitamin E oil

Instructions

Mix these ingredients well.

Apply to hair thoroughly and massage scalp.

Wear a shower cap to retain heat. Leave on for two hours.

Shampoo with warm water to rinse it out. Condition your hair.

Use once a month.

5. Fenugreek & Sunflower Oil Hair Mask

I have decided to spotlight this particular combination because they pack a punch when they work together. Fenugreek is known in Ayurveda for its anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties; it cleans the scalp and gives your hair a nice shine. Fenugreek lays the groundwork for sunflower oil, which is able to supply the scalp with gamma-linolenic acid, a special Omega-6 fatty acid that fights hair thinning and hair loss.

Ingredients

3 tbsp. of fenugreek

7 tbsp. of water

Sunflower oil, as needed
