Use Charcoal to Clean Pores, Absorb Oiliness, Increase Skin Glow

When it comes to natural ingredients, there is no lack of those that can brighten up your skin and deep clean it at the same time.

What are the signs that your skin may not be clean deep down? Dullness, lack of glow, unevenness, blackheads, whiteheads, and acne. All these tell you that your skin needs a thorough cleaning, so the hidden radiance can shine through.

Congestion is another name given to skin that is in need of a deep clean. Excess oil production by the oil-producing glands of the skin is one reason why the skin seems so weighed down at times and prone to issues.

Imagine a room full of stuff and one that is not cluttered. The light coming in through the windows seems far brighter in a more organized and less filled up space. This analogy is wonderful to describe skin that is clean from the inside. Such skin is glowing and radiant to look at.

Here is a very simple and highly effective homemade face mask that can help clean your pores and leave your skin impeccable and glowing.

Ingredients

2 tsp. of rice flour

1/2 tsp. of activated charcoal powder

12 drops fresh pineapple juice

Rosewater to make a thick paste

Instructions

Mix these 4 ingredients with a fork or a face mask brush.

Apply on your face & neck (or any other part of your body).

Wash in 12 minutes.

Follow with your serum and lotion for your skin type. Read information on this page to find out your skin type.

Do remember that a skin brightening mask can leave your skin a bit dry so applying a high-quality serum and lotion is the best way to avoid that. Plus of course, it means you have a daily skin care routine, which is most essential to keep your skin healthy and radiant at all times.

"I really like [Apsara Skin Care] products. I’ve been using [them] since the last four months...I’m using [the cleanser], the moisturizing cream, and other products for my hair. It’s beautiful, and it’s been working on my skin."

The science behind this mask. What do these ingredients do?

Let’s start with charcoal. It has been known and used for a very long time for its detoxification properties. When I say charcoal, I do not mean the household version. It must be activated & refined. Activation means a method of processing that makes this charcoal able to absorb far more than its own weight. Absorb what? Well, charcoal has been known to absorb toxins, bacteria, dirt, and grime. That is precisely why it is used internally in hospitals on patients who come in with toxicity in their bodies.

When applied on the skin in just the right way, activated charcoal absorbs impurities at a deep level. It also absorbs any excess oils. Now, those of us with oily skin or an oily t-zone can really benefit from this. If overdone, it can leave your skin dry. So 1-2 times a

week is more than plenty. While absorbing excess oil on your skin, charcoal also makes the appearance of pores less pronounced. So all in all this can also mean wonderful news for those that battle with acne.

Oh and remember, if your skin care products are filled with harsh chemicals (well they shouldn’t be in the first place), then a charcoal mask like the one above can absorb some of these as well. To avoid toxic buildup of harsh chemicals on your skin, have a skin care routine made with products with natural ingredients. This one is simple. Alright moving on, what does pineapple juice do in this face mask remedy? It is a source of the enzyme, bromelain, which is very well known for its protein-digesting properties. Therefore when put on the skin, it loosens up dead cells so they can simply be washed off. It also reduces redness and inflammation of skin and definitely gives it that glow we are all after. While it does all these cool things, it can also make dark spots, pigmentation, and unevenness of skin far less visible. (By the way, papaya is another highly effective natural ingredient that does just the same if not more. It is a source of the enzyme papain that exfoliates your skin and makes it bright and soft in time. A face mask with pure papaya extract in it is priceless, therefore.)

Let’s come to magic ingredient number three: rice flour. What an awesome and simple ingredient this is. Seriously, it does not get more elegant than this white powder. It gently

absorbs excess oils and impurities and leaves your skin looking even and fresh. And yes soft to the touch as well.

Finally rosewater. This one needs no introduction. Used in Ayurveda for thousands of years to beautify your skin, this ingredient continues to be highly revered. It offers your skin natural astringent properties, making it look tight and refreshed and the appearance of open pores diminished. A high-quality face toner with rosewater must, therefore, be part of your skin care routine. Spray on a fine mist, let dry a bit and follow with your serum and lotion.

And I will leave you with this rosy thought. Pure rosewater (with rose oil in it) also has anti-aging properties and uplifts your mood. And when you are in a great mood, your skin is bound to look flawless.
